Where to Find Characters at Walt Disney World

Meeting Mickey Mouse for the first time is a breathtaking and exciting thing that everyone should experience. You’re waiting in a line, thinking about what you’re going to say, what pose you want to do and finally…you see the ears!

When folks go down to Walt Disney World, one of the items that’s usually left off the list is the “Character Meet and Greets” section. It may be because they don’t understand how grown adults would want to wait in line to meet Minnie or Goofy, or that they would be embarrassed to be the only people over 4 feet to be in the lineup.

I’ll try to be gentle with this information, but the character meet and greets aren’t for your kids…they’re for you. Each time you stand next to The Beast, or get a hug from Belle, or take a funny pose with Rafiki, you’re able to relive a part of your life which will give you goosebumps.

There’s true magic in this aspect of the Disney Parks, and for that…you have to have a plan!

NoteCharacter Meet and Greets are subject to change for a number of reasons. Weather, special events, last minute things that we’ll never really know about. Just be flexible and understand that the Cast Members will do their best to help you!

EXTRA NOTES FOR CHARACTER INTERACTIONS

  • Most characters sign autographs, but some cannot (ie King Louie, Buzz Lightyear)
  • Character Dining is a great way to check characters off your list! We’ve done an article about character dining, available here
  • Special events, like Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party, have their own special line-up of characters. Keep an eye out for the schedule/times guide for information. Just a tip…show up early and make sure that you have your priorities in line. If you want to wait 4 hours to meet Jack and Sally at MNSSHP, be our guest! We usually just go near the front to get a photo of the characters between guests and we’re good.
  • Always Always Always pick up a Times Guide each day that you’re in the park. You never know what could be going on;)
  • When you see a character attendant alone in the park, go and ask POLITELY whether or not they can be expecting a “friend” to join them soon. Characters are sometimes random and can create extra magic in places that you never expected.
